Research shows that spending on online marketing campaigns rose by 20 percent through January and March compared to the corresponding period in 2010.

The recent study being compiled by Efficient Frontier, it was found that investment in pay per click (PPC) marketing recorded growth lets say thank you to the retail sector, whose expenditure rose by 32 percent during the first quarter compared to a year before.

Bing shows up a strong year-by-year growth numbers, while Yahoo! saw its investments in search marketing drop off by 12 percent. Google maintains its dominant force in the online market with more than 78 percent of online marketing expenditures.
