Friday, April 23, 2010

A week ago, Facebook held its annual F8 developers conference. In the event, CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO and developer Bret Taylor introduced three new plugins, which may affect search engine optimization (SEO) campaigns.

The social plugin was the first type to introduce, which can be integrated into a website. These plugins features a ‘Like’ button along with Activity and Recommendation feeds.

The ‘Like’ button allowing users to bookmark certain sites, which will be viewable by their friends. The Activity and Recommendation feeds working in the same way, and these two plugins will allow the friend of the user to see how he/she interacted with a site.

The remaining two plugins the Open Graph and Graph API are the developer’s tools. It allows businesses to easily integrate Facebook features into their websites.

The Open Graph will allow users to store personal data, and allow developers to clean their websites in response to the likes and dislikes of users.

Some experts claim that the ‘Like’ button can have effects on SEO. This new Facebook plugin can be easily integrated to search algorithms.
